Post 1st chemo

Dizzy had her first chemo a couple of days ago and so far she is ok. Not much of an appetite and sleepy but she has manged a walk today so she can’t be feeling too bad. I of course am still worried about what if it spread what if the chemo doesn’t give her long I know I should be thinking she is happy and having nice time and seems to be pain free.

  1. Forget WHAT and tell IF to take a hike! Your journey with Dizzy with then be much more enjoyable. Just ask Dizzy!

If you’re the same Gillian who asked in the chat room about posting photos, check you PM inbox for answers.

  2. I am taking Emma in for her first chemo treatment this afternoon….nervous…..happy to hear Dizzy is up and around! Sleepy for a couple days we can deal with, right!? Best Wishes!!!

  3. It is hard not to worry (I know I am given to occassional major bouts of it myself…) but try to not think about “how long?” because it will rob you of enjoying whatever time you have. Any of us could go tomorrow, so we all have to try to remember to focus on enjoying today… And that is a lesson that is best taught by dogs! They are great for enjoying the here and now! All the best wishes for speedy recovery and for some cancer butt-kicking from the chemotherapy!

  4. My dog Midnight had his front leg removed 6/17, the vet just called chemo is probably next. More Monday with pics.

  5. Karen of pugapalooza fame gave me the best advice – the “timer” is not going to go off and so when Maggie was diagnosed with a SECOND cancer, she did not even ask for a prognosis. I love that approach. And I love the advice to tell IF to take a hike!

“Hold every thought captive” – it takes practice but you can do it. Replace every “what if” with “what a beautiful, wonderful dog I have and I’m so lucky to have her!” And then give her a great big hug and her wagging tail will have you smiling in no time.

  6. if ‘ifs and buts’ were ‘candy’s and nuts,’ we’d all have a merry christmas….don’t spend time worrying about the future or fretting about the past. NOW is all we are promised – enjoy the now. dizzy is brave and true and perfect the way she is, just marvel in that.
